Covid Protocols
Please come join us for Meeting for Worship in-person or virtually and be nurtured in our beloved community. We enjoy a variety of opportunities to meet in-person, but also have many virtual and hybrid Meetings and social events. We offer outdoor walking worship in the fall and winter, weather permitting. Outdoor seating is also available for socializing. We strongly encourage Friends and visitors, who are sick or showing signs and symptoms of illness to stay home and join us virtually.
Masks are optional in our buildings and on our grounds, except for designated areas in the Meeting House.
Based on CDC and Montgomery County, Maryland guidance, Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting has reinstated our indoor hospitality. This may be at Rise of Meeting, during receptions after Meetings for Marriage or Memorial Meetings, and at community events. The Lyceum and Education buildings have excellent ventilation built into the HVAC system. When weather permits, the Meeting House windows and doors will be opened.
The Ad Hoc Public Health and Safety Committee expects that Covid will be with us for years to come. Therefore, we need to learn how to maintain and strengthen our spiritual and community life at the same time that we live with Covid.
The Ad Hoc Public Health and Safety Committee consists of members of Sandy Spring Friends Meeting including Trustees Committee, Ministry & Counsel, Building Care, and Religious Education Committee. Members of the committee monitor the CDC and Montgomery County COVID risk indicators on a weekly basis and will adjust the safe practices as appropriate for the risk level. People who are immunocompromised should follow safety guidance from their health care provider.
