Sandy Spring Meeting Forum on Syrian Refugee Crisis Oct. 9

The Sandy Spring Friends Meeting Peace Committee invites you to attend a forum about the world refugee crisis, Refugees in our Midst: How can we help?, on Sunday, October 9th, from 1-4 p.m. at the Sandy Spring Museum, 17901 Bentley Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860.

There are presently an unprecedented 20 million refugees and over 60 million displaced persons in the world. Nearly 5 million people have fled the violence in Syria and at least 200 of these families will be resettled in Maryland in the coming months. This forum will feature speakers from the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) and the International Rescue Committee as well as stories from our new neighbors, former refugees, and faith community leaders.

Learn how people of compassion can plug in and help out. Space is limited, please RSVP at www.md4refugees.org and arrive at 12:30pm the day of the event to register and enjoy light refreshments. For more information contact Bette Hoover at 202-329-4667 or Erinn Mansour (erinn@campmansour.com).
